This Week in Worship

Sunday Morning at 10:30 AM EST on Facebook Live

“The Best is Yet to Come”

John 2:1-11

1On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what concern is that to me and to you? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Now standing there were six stone water jars for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the person in charge of the banquet.” So they took it. When the person in charge tasted the water that had become wine and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), that person called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee and revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

New Dog Park on the Way

A study based on the book Neighborhood Church back in 2019 and early 2020 lead to the approval of the construction of a place for neighbors to gather with their dogs on a corner of the church property facing Zeus Park. Following months of planning and the necessary permits the end is in sight. This week the fence is being installed a a first step toward welcoming our neighbors, two and four legged. A grand opening is in the works for sometime in February.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study

Every Tuesday Morning at 11:00 AM EDT in person and on Zoom

The Book of Proverbs

NEW BIBLE STUDY SCHEDULED Pastor Paul will lead a new bible study on Tuesday mornings at 11AM, beginning on Tuesday, January 19 and continuing through May 4. He will be discussing the Old Testament Book of Proverbs, covering 2 chapters each week.

The New Standard Revised Version of the Bible (the one that is used at HSCPC) describes the Book of Proverbs as one of the “Wisdom Books” whose themes are usually how virtue can triumph over wrong. Proverbs is a collection of sayings about how to live the good life.

There are two ways that you can attend and participate in these sessions: in person in the church office parlor (socially distanced seating) or via ZOOM from your own home. Click the link below on Tuesday morning from your computer or smart phone to join the class.

You can download a class schedule by clicking this link.

New Ways to Worship

The Session has released this video to help orient the congregation on new safety protocols.

When we begin to meet for worship again, things will necessarily be a little different at first. This video is intended to give a glimpse into the things that have changed as we begin to come together for in-person worship.

Sunday morning worship will continue to be available on Facebook Live at 10:30 AM EST. Communion elements will still be available on the front porch of the sanctuary during the week prior to communion.

Those who live in the same house will be seated together, in order to accommodate as many as possible. This initial phase of re-gathering does not include coffee hour.

Christmas Ornament Exchange

On Friday, Dec 13, a group of merry revelers gathered in the fellowship hall to share in a pot-luck dinner, ornament exchange and even a few Christmas carols. It is sure to be remembered as the first of many in what will surely become an annual event. Merry Christmas everyone!
